This tool is used to expand the i-Tree Eco location and species database. It requires
users to submit specific location, pollution, and species information that will be vetted by the
USDA Forest Service.
How to use it:
i-Tree uses two main databases for analytical modeling: Species and Location, along with related Precipitation and Pollution databases.
With global use of i-Tree, these databases will expand to include missing tree species and location-related information. i-Tree Database provides a central website for user submission of these new data. Submissions are vetted and added periodically each year so that all users can update their i-Tree Eco software and analyze these new locations and species.
i-Tree Eco already supports many locations around the world. Click here for a list.
i-Tree Database users can:
- get help on the entire submission process by clicking Get Started.
- View the Database and even comment on and export the current tree species and location data.
- Add to the Database to contribute new data.
To submit data:
- For location data: click here first to verify the location is not already supported.
- For pollution data, use the Pollution Template.
- For precipitation data, use the Precipitation Template.
- Review our “Add to Database” process by clicking Get Started.
- You must register on the site – we will need to contact you.
- We review and accept only complete, high-quality data.
- Once accepted, we will include your data in the next i-Tree Eco software release.
- We will email you when i-Tree Eco has been updated with your data.
- This entire process may take 3 months.
Submission guidelines:
- i-Tree Database operates on a first come, first serve basis for species and single locations.
- Please be thorough: incomplete or low quality submissions will delay all subsequent user submissions.
- Are you interested in adding multiple location-specific datasets for pollution and precipitation? Please contact info@itreetools.org with details. i-Tree has limited resources, but we are happy to collaborate on funding for larger projects.
